Plan Your Visit

A WARM WELCOME AWAITS.

From the moment you step into our dental office, you and your child will feel right at home. It’s a child-friendly, colorful space where dental visits are always fun. We have designed our treatment rooms to appeal to children of all ages. They are equipped with state-of-the-art equipment for the highest level of patient comfort and the best results. We’ve got toys and books to keep little ones busy, but it’s our people that make the biggest difference in your child’s dental experience. Our team members are friendly, engaging, and great with children.

Visiting the dentist early in life can help your child to feel more comfortable during dental visits. We recommend you bring your child for their first dental visit by age 1. However, we do understand that’s not always possible. Children of all ages are welcome, and our team will do our very best to make their first experience a great one. At each appointment, your child will receive a professional cleaning and thorough evaluation to track their oral development and help us provide useful home-care tips.

WHAT HAPPENS AT A FIRST VISIT

Our team’s goal for your child’s first dental visit is making them feel comfortable and helping them have fun. As pediatric dental specialists, we know the best ways to do this so your kiddo has a positive experience. We want them to establish a lifelong positive relationship with dentistry, and pleasant childhood visits pave the way for a lifetime of good dental habits and happy smiles.

The first visit involves a knee-to-knee evaluation for babies and toddlers and a seat in the big-kid chair for older children. Your pediatric dentist will check your child’s teeth and gums, and we will also gently brush their teeth. Older children will receive a full prophylaxis (professional dental cleaning). We take digital X-rays on children 3 and over.

ENGAGE WITH YOUR KIDS AND PREVENT TOOTH DECAY.

Engaging your child in oral hygiene care isn’t always easy, but Pediatric Dental Specialists–Grand Island is here to help you. You can start by making brushing fun. Let your child choose their own toothbrush or toothpaste or play a favorite song to keep them interested. It’s also important to limit your child’s sugar intake. There is a direct relationship between sugar consumption and cavities, so for healthy teeth, less is best. Teach them the importance of flossing from an early age. Finally, help to make regular dental visits positive experiences by modeling a calm, positive attitude about dental care. Children learn so much from their parents, and you have the power to make a huge difference in the way they view dental visits and oral health care.

The dentists and assistants at PDS, are so fun, outgoing, and Always Smiling. I never hear "I don't want to go to the dentist" anymore. Highly recommend. I wish they could do mine too! 😁
